Argentina CBI: What Is Announced and What Comes Next

MFG Consultants · Programme information reviewed 6 October 2026
Argentina has announced a new route to citizenship. Here is what that means for your family, what is confirmed and what you can usefully do before intake opens.
A nationality to add to your plans
Argentina's announced citizenship by investment programme offers investors a different outcome from a residence permit: Argentine nationality, followed by the applicable identity and passport procedures. For a family planning internationally, that could mean another country to call home and a wider set of choices about travel and future relocation.
The important first question is personal. Are you looking for more convenient travel, a home outside your current region, an additional nationality alongside a Golden Visa, or a family plan that is less dependent on one country? Your answer should guide the decision before the investment amount does.
What the government has announced
On 2 October 2026, Argentina's Ministry of Economy announced two principal-applicant routes: a non-refundable USD 350,000 contribution to the National Treasury or a USD 800,000 subscription to a government bond created for the programme. Additional contributions apply to eligible spouses and children.
The government plans to receive applications during Q4 2026. As of this review on 6 October 2026, an operational opening date and live government intake were not established. Registering interest with MFG Consultants is an opportunity to assess and prepare; it is not a government filing or a reserved approval slot.
What happens between interest and a passport?
Start with a review of your family composition, existing citizenships, priorities and funding. Document preparation then brings together evidence of identity, family relationships and the lawful origin of funds. Submission will depend on the final operational requirements and the opening of intake.
Government assessment is substantive. APCI evaluates the file and makes its recommendation to the National Directorate of Migration, which decides the application. Citizenship and the subsequent identity and passport formalities are distinct milestones. No verified complete application-to-passport processing period is available in the sources reviewed.
Why prepare before a decision becomes urgent?
Preparation gives you time to compare alternatives, trace the funds you intend to use and understand whether a spouse or adult child fits the announced family categories. It also leaves room to check how another nationality interacts with the citizenships and residence permits you already hold.
There is no need to manufacture a deadline. The practical advantage is clarity: knowing your objectives, the evidence available and the questions that must be answered before you commit. If your needs are urgent, an announced programme should also be compared with routes already operating.
